The lady at the desk in the afternoon was not very friendly, the lady the next morning was friendly

I was particularly impressed with the staff. Every single person I encountered there seemed genuinely considerate: from the middle-aged lady I assume to be the manager, to both desk clerks with whom I dealt, to the night clerk/bartender.

Since I was staying only one night, I would have preferred to have been able to find a less expensive hotel.

The closeness to town

The closness to the railway line wasn't mentioned, also the tariff of rooms was dif in the hotel to on line

Position

Non smoking rooms are ex-smoking rooms until the other day, so there is still a smell of smoke in the rooms.

Pas de signalisation extérieure. L'Hotel est difficile à trouver (la première fois). Le restaurant ne fonctionnait pas (malgré ce qui est annoncé sur la devanture)

Ruime kamer, dichtbij centrum, zachte bedden. Ontbijt was prima.

Kamer stonk een beetje naar etenswaren/ zweetvoeten (er is een restaurant op de begane grond). Spoor/ treinen waren erg goed te horen vanaf een uurtje of 6:00 's morgens.
