Location of the hotel is good. The booked room was underground and with no windows. I could upgrade to an upper floor (with additional payment) but still without window.

The location is great. 5 mins walk to the Central Terminal and red light districts is nearby. There is also a good supermarket near the Dam.

Great destination, close to the train station and all means of public transport (and to red light district!). Window looked to the waterpipes - very irritating noise. Dark room, dark furniture, very small bedside lamps. Breakfast in the next pub, also dark place but food was ok. Bathroom could be cleaner. You have to pay the bill in advance. I wouldn't stay there again, I would look for a better quality in this price category.

Room on the ground floor had the tiniest windows so no real natural light. Bathroom was fine. Hotel location was excellent.

We had a single room and a double room. The double room was correct, the single one wasn't very good.

A very pleasant little hotel in a lively part of town. Staff were pleasant. Upkeep was so-so (check your room on arrival). Good value for Amsterdam, though it would be a ripoff in Spain.

7 min from the Central station. Major museum (walking) -45min. Dam - <10min. Very friendly people, very helpful. Clean room and bath. Quiet. Wireless works well in room at any time. Room is OK for me but small for a big person. Bathroom size is typical for any small hotel in Europe. Regulated heater. Lift is working. good breakfast. Good place. I'd recommend it to everyone.

Hotel France was a great find for us, when we go back we will definately be returning to the Hotel. Location was perfect and the surrounding area although being very central was very quiet. Only problem that we encountered was that the bedside lamps, inside, were very dusty which gave out a strange smell. All round though it made for a great 4 days!!!

Very nice small hotel with easy access to excursion centers. Very quiet surroundings. The adjoining Irish Pub restaurant was also greatly appreciated.

My single room was very small and very plain -- not even a picture on the wall, and no room for a chair to sit in for reading. However, the location was very convenient, the room was clean and well kept, breakfast was good standard European, and the price was better than I was able to find elsewhere in Amsterdam for the dates of my travel. All together, it worked out fine, although I must admit that I was startled when I first saw how small and plain the room was. From photos, it appears that the double rooms are better size and better furnished.

Nice stay in Amsterdam, and luckily we did not spend much time at the hotel. They offered an ok place to sleep, but the price did not in any way match the facilities they offered.

I was lucky because I had a room with a great view, but most of my friends got a room without windows... It´s a little bit noisy, mayb because of its excellent location. Only one problem: someone got inside the room (locked room, by the way)of one of my colleagues and stole any valuable thing he/she found (portable DVD, digital camera, clothes, shoes, etc). Some staff were not as helpful as one could expect, specially the receptionist at the moment of the theft. The rest of the staff were excellent. Best: the location.

The position of the hotel is perfect, near the station and the center, optimal and abundant the breakfast in the irish pub, but the room was small and without window. Too many 150 euros for room for three persons to night

I had my purse with all cash & credit cards stolen during breakfast at the Irish pub next door -- which was a great blow. Hotel France staff, however, was extremely helpful and supporting to sort out all kinds of subsequent problems.

i was so dissapionted with my room :( it was cramped, dirty carpets, single size blanket on double bed. There where no tea and coffee facillities at all and you said there was. Every morning there were workmen drilling outside my room! The bathroom smelled and the staff were always knocking on the door and disturbing us for various reasons. I went home 2 day early as it upset me to stay in that hotel so much. Please note i asked for a view of the canal and all i got was a noisy vent and a big building outside my room! I was REALLY UPSET! It was also our anniversary :( Regards Katy

It is projected as three star hotel. When I reached the hotel I found already few customers fighting with the hotel receptionist complaining about the rooms. The rooms are very small with no facilities. I mean there is not even glass of water in the room. Overall I will not go back to this hotel.

The France hotel has a perfect situation, very quiet, a good breakfast, but the room was too dirty. During our stay the room was never clean, just the towels were changed. I am really was disappointment in the cleanness of the room taking into account that it was 3 stars hotel.

We were put in a room with no window. I could smell bad athletes foot fungus in the hallway carpets. Was wondering if the room was even up to code since we were directly under the stairwell. We heard drunks coming in at all hours of the night. Hardly slept at all and wondered if I'd contracted a respiratory illness from such poor ventilation. Very poor standards for the price.

Overall I found this hotel to be handy to transport resturants and sightseeing. The rooms could be cleaner however for the price you can't expect 5star accomadation. I would stay there again.

The hotel looks good on the internet but the rooms are shabby. Our room had holes in the carpet and it looked as though it hadnt been hoovered in quite a while. The bathroom was adequate and clean but i would advise to STAY AWAY from this hotel as it is NOT good value for money.
